Day 3 : Testing terrain shader & heightmap

Today i continued to tweak and construct the terrain and also
test out the render with a shader applied
I also read bryan's fyp blog since he was working on terrain as well
I got some good references and link from his site
On top of that, i found a guide to write a very basic VFX shader online
Even though it stated basic, but it still seem complex and ambiguous to me

The guide for basic shader
Stone asset for reference
(Found in bryan's blog)

The reference pictures above were of great help to me
And here's my progress today
The terrain added with lighting
The veins pattern node was tweak countless times today
To achieve the current mountainous look
The vein frequency was reduced to eliminate the sharp edge at the corners
Noise amplitude was slightly raised  to increase the displacement of bumpiness
I tried applying a shader done by jwoelper in the odforce forum(http://forums.odforce.net/index.php?/topic/10798-procedural-stonesrocks/page__hl__jwoelper)

Height map

I sought help from Jia bao
He commented that my current terrain pattern was good
Hence i shall proceed on to experiment more on creating a custom VFX shader
He also advises me to browse through Peter quint's shader tutorial
I will try to learn about the basics first before i get really disorientated in the process
Going back to watch the tutorial
